Blogger Guest Post {& Giveaway} ~ Coranne from Short & Sweet Reviews

Hey y'all! Today the amazing Amanda from Short & Sweet Reviews has an equally amazing guest post! Enjoy & Happy Reading!
How did you get introduced to the book blogging community?  For me, I had used up all the books in my small town library.  I wasn't a fan of adult fiction, though I am nearing 30, mainly because I wasn't a fan of all of the sex and violence in books.  I still loved the simplicity and imagination of YA, but other than what was on my library shelves- I had no idea what was out there.  I tried looking on Amazon, but didn't have much luck.  I joined Goodreads and found Kristi from the Story Siren and MundieMoms.

I was flabbergasted!  There were other adults out there who felt the way I did about YA literature!  (This was before the massive Twilight boom).  I found myself drawn to their blogs- and then the blogs they linked to.  I was finding so many books to add to my to-read list!  Now, I have to be honest and say- I was already a voracious reader BEFORE I started looking at book blogs- but reading book blogs got me out of the narrow genres I read and introduced me to books that I would have never looked twice at.

So do book blogs and book bloggers matter?  Absolutely.  Social media is one of the biggest forms of advertising today- and blogging fits into that.  We in the book blogging community- whether you write or simply read blogs- are that- a COMMUNITY.  We affect each other, encourage each other, and influence each other.  Do we make a difference in "big name" authors?  Probably not as much.  But I believe 100% that we make a difference with smaller authors or books that are not being heavily publicized.  Book bloggers can and do make a difference!

Have you ever been influenced to buy or read a book after reading a review on this blog?  Another blog?  We would love to hear your comments below!

    1. Ha ha, to each their own. I love Christian fiction ;)

    2. Hi Coranne!!!! I don't read Christian fiction... that explains it doesn't it? lol

    3. LOL I compromise... Christian romance novels. And yes they exist. Cleaner than the regular ones, but still really good! :p

  2. I read and reviewed that book a while ago. its pretty good :) I am having a giveaway on my new blog as well. Check it out:

    1. I still haven't read this one. I want to but our small town library is a little slow getting books sometimes...

I will definitely check out your blog! =) Thanks so much for commenting & for the follow! =)

  3. Yes, I have. I'd read a review once about a book with a rather controversial topic, and I knew that I had to read it. As soon as I could, I bought the book. It was an amazing read. It was very emotional for me. I cried a lot. LOL And the story just stuck with me ... maybe for longer than I would have liked because if I would think about it, I'd tear up all over again. But when a book can affect me like that, I know it's good.

    Thank you for the giveaway!

    1. I think those are the best types of books. Sort of a love/hate deal with them sometimes though. You might not want the topic to be stuck in your head, but you love that the author wrote something amazing enough to affect you that way & stay with you.

*Waves* Hi there awesome person! Thanks for leaving a comment! I try to reply to all comments that need one so make sure to check back later! =)
